Dear Montenegro: We want YOU in the EU (and so do your citizens)!
Last week, I had the honor of co-chairing the 23rd EU-Montenegro SAPC.
In the Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee (SAPC), our European Parliament delegation meets with the Montenegrin delegation to discuss the country’s progress on its path to the EU.
I have been accompanying Montenegro’s accession process for five years now. Montenegro is considered a pioneer among the region and has already implemented many important reforms. There is still important work to do in the areas of combating corruption, in the rule of law, democracy, women’s rights, combating domestic violence, and environmental protection to become ready for accession.
The majority of the Montenegrin population wants to join the EU. Let’s continue to work together to welcome Montenegro to the EU soon!
